If you’re fond of the miniature gel-fueled fire pits that have become popular indoor and outdoor focal pieces but not so fond of the price, this clever DIY project will help you craft one from a planter and cheap picture frames.
Design and DIY blog Design*Sponge shares a great DIY for building your own stylish indoor/outdoor mini fire pit. You’ll need silicone caulk, glass, a planter with a wide lip, rocks, hardware mesh, and a canister of gel fuel. They use glass from some cheap picture frames, mesh from a Dollar Store grill grate, and other cheap parts.
The end result is a soothing and expensive looking portable fire pit perfect for a glowing campfire effect on your deck without the hassle (or lease-violating nature) of a real roaring fire. Check out the full tutorial at the link below for more tips and pictures. Have a clever DIY project to share? Let’s hear about it in the comments.
